M'luru boy is CET Medical topper
The results of the Common Entrance Test were declared on Saturday.
In the Medical/Dental stream, Ananth G, a student of Alva’s PU College in Mangaluru, secured the first rank with 96.66%. In Engineering, the top rank went to Milind Kumar Vaddiraju from V V S Sardar Patel PU College, Bengaluru with 99.27%. In Architecture, Mrudhulaa C R of CMR National Public School, Bengaluru, came first with 85.65%.
Of the 1,78,377 candidates who applied for the exam 1,71,868 appeared. Out of those who appeared for the examination, conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority in 391 centres across the state, 41,530 are eligible for admission to Medical and Dental courses, 99,791 for Indian Systems of Medicine (ISM) and Homoeopathy courses, 1,27,576 for Engineering and Technology courses and 1,395 for Architecture.
Further, 96,341 students are eligible for Agriculture, 99,788 for Veterinary, 1,31,092 lakh for BPharma and 1,31,324 Pharma-D courses. In a relief to Medical and Dental seat aspirants, the state government will set aside 900 more seats this year.
Announcing the results, Minister for Higher Education T B Jayachandra said that students who have secured the top five ranks in all streams will get a discount on the college fee till the completion of the course.
He said verification of documents will commence at all helpline centres from June 3, and counselling from June 14. This year two additional helplines have been added at Tumakuru and Bidar.
