Vodafone targets 100 cities in K'taka for 4G

Vodafone is aiming to take its 4G services to to 100 cities from 2 cities by the end of this year, said Amit Kapur, Business Head — Karnataka, Vodafone India.

“In the past 1 year, after we took up our own spectrum there, we have launched our own 3G network, we have launched our own 4G network in Karnataka. We have also done 17 sites everyday, and we have also rolled out 2 kilometres of fibre everyday. We will keep investing here, and we will take 4G to 100 cities from 2 cities by the end of this year,” said Kapur in his first exclusive media interaction with Deccan Herald. 

Kapur also elaborated on company’s investment plans in Karnataka. “We have till now invested Rs 5,400 in our network in Karnataka. Recently, we have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka, where we have intended to invest Rs 2,500 crore in the state over next 3 years and most of our plans are on sidelines with this MoU,” he said.
